THE DEN
The Tiger's Den is conveniently situated near Calle Vieja (John F Kennedy) yet still nested in nature with a big park across the street from my home. It's a safe community in a suburb of San Jose, with great hiking trails within minutes of the house.
I prefer to rent on a monthly basis, but I’m happy to take short term stays when rooms are available.
WHAT IS THERE TO DO IN THE DEN
I have lots of art supplies, I offer classes in pottery, drawing, pastels, painting and jewelry making as well as cooking. Japanese, Chinese, Indian and Thai plus lots of vegetarian dishes.
WHAT'S NEARBY
We're a 10 minute drive to CIMA Hospital (which is said to be the best, most up-to-date hospital in all of Central America). We're in an upscale area which boasts many great international restaurants, tons of shopping, near the Multi-Plaza shopping center and 2 Cinemax movie theaters. We're also in the mountains and very close to great hiking areas with 2 swimming pools with in a two block walk that are available for public use. There's a Fresh Market within a 150 meters, a great little French bakery called Chez Christophe, (a good landmark for Uber or Waze) right outside the entrance, there are also Japanese, Indian, Argentinian, Mexican, Italian, brick oven pizza and Costa Rican Restaurants with one walking distance and a German bakery about 2 blocks away.
TRIP PLANNING
Start your trip in San Jose and venture off to other parts of Costa Rica! I highly recommend this LINK to any of my guests interested in learning more on what this beautiful country has to offer!
CLEANING
Katherine is the friendly housekeeper of the Den. She comes in Monday-Wednesday-Friday to clean the bathrooms, wash towels, clean the floors and do some light housework in the common areas. She will change your linens and towels once a week. If you need her to do anything special (like your laundry or deep clean your room) she is available for a fee, about $12.00/hour. I encourage guests to use the washer and dryer no more then once a week. Water's expensive here.
PARKING/TRANSPORTATION
If you need it, I have one covered parking space available, there is also safe parking on the street in front of my house. Otherwise bus transportation is accessible about a block away. Buses to downtown San Jose, Sabana Park, San Antonio and Santa Ana take between 20-25 mins. and cost between 60 and 80 cents. Uber is great here, much cheaper then Taxi's. If you prefer Taxis they're everywhere and easy to catch from the main road.
